Add a chat widget or other script to your store
Paste the install snippet from a tool like Tawk.to, Crisp, Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar or Google Tag Manager, and it runs on every page of your storefront. For tools without a dedicated field in Slaby.
About 10 minutes.
Before you start
- The install snippet from the tool you want (it usually starts with <script).
- A verified store — saved scripts only go live once Slaby has verified your business. You can save them before that.
- Owner or manage-settings access to your Slaby admin.
Step by step
- 1
Check whether Slaby already has a field for it
Before you start
Google Analytics, Google Ads, the Meta Pixel and Search Console verification have their own fields on Settings → Marketing & SEO — use those instead of a script, they are simpler and safer.
- 2
Copy the tool's install snippet
In the tool's dashboard
Most tools show it under a heading like 'Install', 'Widget code', 'Tracking code' or 'Manual installation'. Copy the whole snippet, including the <script> and </script> tags.
- Tawk.to: Administration → Chat Widget → Widget Code.
- Microsoft Clarity: your project → Settings → Setup → Install manually.
- Google Tag Manager: Admin → Install Google Tag Manager — paste the first (<script>) snippet.
- 3
Paste it into Slaby
In your Slaby admin
Go to Settings → Storefront template and scroll to Custom scripts. Paste the snippet into the box and click Save. You can put several tools' snippets one after another.
The code is added at the end of every storefront page (retail and wholesale). It never runs in your admin.
- Limit: 10,000 characters in total.
Only paste code from a tool you trust. A script runs inside your storefront with full access to the page your buyers see.
Where it goes
- Into Slaby
- Settings → Storefront template → Custom scripts
- Runs on
- Every storefront page, end of page. Never in the admin.
If the card says your store isn't verified yet, the scripts are saved but not served. They go live automatically once verification completes — contact support if you are waiting on it.
Test it
- 1.Open your storefront in a private window and confirm the widget appears (or, for a tracking tool, that its dashboard sees your visit).
- 2.If nothing appears, check the card for the 'not verified yet' notice first.
If something goes wrong
The widget does not show on my store.
Why it happens: Your store is not verified yet, so saved scripts are not served.
How to fix it: Look for the notice on the Custom scripts card. Scripts go live automatically after verification.
The script loads but the tool says it is not installed.
Why it happens: Part of the snippet was missed when copying, or the tool expects to be installed on a different website address.
How to fix it: Copy the whole snippet again. In the tool's settings, add your store address (and your own domain, if you use one) as an allowed site.
My storefront looks broken after saving.
Why it happens: The snippet contains invalid HTML or a tool that conflicts with the page.
How to fix it: Clear the box and save to remove all scripts, then add them back one at a time to find the culprit.

Common questions
- Why does my store need to be verified first?
- Scripts can change everything a buyer sees, so they are only served for verified businesses. It keeps throwaway stores from using the platform to run untrusted code.
- Can I add code to the page <head>?
- Scripts are added at the end of the page, which is where chat widgets and most trackers recommend. Search Console verification has its own field, so it does not need head access.
