Orders & checkout
Cart, checkout, payment methods and the order lifecycle from placed to fulfilled.
Cart & checkout
Buyers add products (and, for variant products, a chosen variant) to a cart. At checkout they select or add a delivery address — a valid address is required, with proper validation — and choose a payment method.
All money is calculated server-side from your catalogue: quantities are clamped to MOQ and pack rules, tiers and any negotiated price are applied, and the order total is frozen at placement so later catalogue changes never alter a placed order.
Payment methods
You control which methods are offered from your settings. COD can be limited by a minimum and maximum order value, by pincode, and by how much a single buyer can have outstanding in undelivered COD orders; optional risk scoring (built from your own delivery history) can steer risky buyers to pay online.
- Prepaid — pay the full amount online (see the Payments module).
- Cash on delivery (COD) — pay at the door.
- Partial COD — an online advance now, the balance as cash on delivery.
- Credit — for approved buyers on credit terms.
Buyer cancellations
You can let buyers cancel an order themselves for a set time after placing it (for example 60 minutes), as long as it hasn't been dispatched. Set the window in Settings → Returns & cancellations; 0 means buyers contact you to cancel. You're emailed about every buyer cancellation, and prepaid orders that need a refund are flagged for you.
Order lifecycle
Orders move through Placed → Confirmed → Fulfilled (or Cancelled). An online-payment order waits as 'Awaiting payment' until the gateway confirms it, and is cancelled automatically if the payment never arrives — it only becomes a sale (with alerts and receipts) once paid. Buyers see a timeline and can download a GST invoice. Your admin order list shows one clear row per item and every order's frozen snapshot.
Common questions
- Is a delivery address mandatory?
- Yes — checkout requires a complete, validated address (line, city, and a 6-digit pincode) before an order can be placed.
- Can prices change after an order is placed?
- No. The order total, tax and line prices are frozen at placement, so editing your catalogue later never changes a placed order.
- Can I offer part-online, part-cash?
- Yes — Partial COD collects an online advance now and the remaining balance as cash on delivery.
