Slaby keeps your udhaar (credit) book for you. Give a customer a credit limit, choose udhaar as the payment at the counter, and their balance builds up with the age of each amount. When they pay, part or full, it clears their oldest bills first. One tap opens a WhatsApp reminder with their statement and a UPI link.
How do I give udhaar at the counter?
Switch on credit for your store in Settings, then set a credit limit on the customer's page. At the counter, add the customer to the bill and you see how much udhaar they can still take. Choose udhaar as the payment, or split the bill, for example part cash and part udhaar.
If you set a due period, such as 15 or 30 days, each udhaar bill gets a due date and overdue amounts are highlighted.
How do I see who owes me money?
The Udhaar page lists every customer with a balance: the total due, what is overdue, and how old the money is in four groups: 0–30, 31–60, 61–90 and over 90 days.
Filter by overdue, over limit or ready to remind, search by name or phone, and export the list as a CSV file.
How do I record a part payment?
Open the customer, press Receive payment and enter the amount and how they paid: cash, UPI or card. The payment clears the oldest bills first, and the statement shows what is still due.
Cash received this way is added to the open till, so your day's cash count stays right.
How do I remind a customer on WhatsApp?
Press Remind and WhatsApp opens on your phone with the message ready, in English or Hindi, including a link to their statement and a UPI link to pay. You read it and press send; nothing is sent automatically and it costs nothing.
To keep it polite, Slaby waits a few days before suggesting the same customer again, and it skips customers who have turned WhatsApp messages off. The statement can also be shared as a PDF.

What do shops ask about the udhaar book?
Does Slaby send udhaar reminders automatically?
No. Slaby prepares the WhatsApp message and opens it on your phone; you press send. That keeps reminders free and personal, and nothing goes out without you.
Can the customer see their own statement?
Yes. The reminder carries a private statement link that lists their udhaar bills and payments with the balance. By default a link keeps working for 30 days, and you can also send the statement as a PDF.
What happens to udhaar when a customer returns an item?
A counter return of an udhaar bill reduces what the customer owes, and the statement shows it as a return entry.
Can a cashier take udhaar payments?
Only if you allow it. Receiving an udhaar payment needs permission to edit customers, which the Cashier role doesn't have unless you add it.
Is the udhaar book a separate app?
No. It is part of counter billing in Slaby, so udhaar given on a bill appears in the book straight away. It comes with every paid plan.
