In short
Slaby gives a shop in India counter billing and an online store that share one stock. Bill on a phone, tablet or PC with a barcode scanner or the phone camera, take cash, UPI, card or udhaar, and print or WhatsApp the bill. When the last piece sells at the counter, the website shows it sold out within seconds.
Two stocks for one shop is where it goes wrong
Most shops that also sell online keep two stocks: the pieces on the shelf, and a website someone updates when they find the time.
- A walk-in buys the last piece, and an online order for the same piece arrives that evening.
- Updating the website after every counter sale is extra work, so new stock often never goes online.
- Bills come from a bill book or a separate billing program that knows nothing about online orders.
- Walk-in customers leave no record, so there is no way to invite your regulars back.
- Month-end means adding up the bill book, the UPI app and the website's order list by hand.
Separate billing and website vs one stock on Slaby
| Question | Separate billing program + website | Slaby: one stock |
|---|---|---|
| A piece sells at the counter | Someone has to update the website by hand | The website shows it sold out within seconds, and checkout refuses it |
| New stock arrives | Entered twice, once in each system | Entered once in a spreadsheet-style grid, or pasted from Excel |
| Pieces kept for walk-ins | Left off the website, or listed and oversold | Switch Show online off for a product or a single size |
| The customer's bill | Printed from the billing program only | Printed on any printer the device can use, or sent as a WhatsApp link or PDF |
| Customers | Online buyers in one place, walk-ins nowhere | One customer list with visits and spend from both |
| Sales reports | Two reports to add together | Online and counter sales side by side, plus a day book |
Start billing in five steps
Create your store and switch billing on
Start your store, then turn on Track stock quantities and Counter billing in Settings. Both come with every paid plan, Lite included.
Add your stock
Type pieces into the stock grid, paste rows from Excel or import a sheet with quantities. Pieces sold only at the counter don't need photos.
Print barcode labels if you want them
Print price and barcode stickers on A4 sheets or a thermal label roll. Slaby can generate a barcode for any product that has none.
Set up the counter
Open billing on a phone, tablet or PC, plug in a USB or Bluetooth scanner if you have one, and choose your bill size and bill number series.
Open the day and bill
Enter the opening cash, scan or search items, take payment and print or WhatsApp the bill. Close the day with a cash count and the day book.
What you get at the counter
Bill in seconds at the counter
Search by name or code, scan with a scanner or the phone camera, pick the size and colour, split cash and UPI, and hold a bill while you serve the next customer.
One stock for the counter and the website
A counter sale updates the website within seconds. Switch Show online off for pieces or sizes you keep for walk-ins, and see every change in the stock history.
Printed or WhatsApp bills, no special hardware
Print on a 58 or 80 mm thermal printer or on A4, or send the bill as a WhatsApp link or PDF. Use one bill number series or a separate one for the counter.
Get your stock in fast
An Excel-like stock grid, paste from Excel, import and export with quantities, and a stock count you do by walking the shop with your phone.
Barcode labels and price tags
Print labels with name, size, price and barcode on A4 sticker sheets or thermal rolls. Products without a barcode get one generated.

Walk-ins can stay anonymous or leave a number. See visits and spend, filter segments, export the list and WhatsApp customers who opted in.
Day close and reports
Open and close the day with a cash count and a printable day book. Compare online and counter sales, and find dead stock and what to reorder.
Returns and exchanges at the counterNew
Find the bill by number or phone, take the piece back into stock, then refund or exchange it with a credit note.
Keep billing if the internet dropsNew
Turn on offline billing and cash or UPI bills are saved on the device, then sent when you are back online. Anything that can't go through waits for your review.

What do shop owners ask before they start billing on Slaby?
- How do I keep my shop stock and website stock in sync?
- Use one stock for both. On Slaby, every counter bill and every online order takes from the same quantity, so when the last piece sells at the counter the website shows it sold out within seconds and its checkout refuses it. Instagram and Google catalogue feeds catch up on their next fetch, which can take a few hours.
- Do I need a billing machine or special hardware?
- No. Billing runs in the browser on the phone, tablet or PC you already have, and a bill can go out as a WhatsApp link or PDF with no printer at all. For paper bills, any printer the device can print to works: a 58 or 80 mm thermal printer or a normal A4 printer.
- Which barcode scanners work?
- Any USB or Bluetooth scanner that types the code like a keyboard, which is most of them. You can also scan with the phone or tablet camera. Products without a barcode can get one generated, and you can print labels for them.
- Can I send a bill to a customer on WhatsApp?
- Yes. After a counter sale, tap WhatsApp: your own WhatsApp opens with a message and a private link to the bill, addressed to the customer's number if you have it. The customer can view the bill or save it as a PDF. Nothing is sent through a paid WhatsApp service, and you can still print the bill instead.
- Which payment methods can I take at the counter?
- Cash with the change worked out, UPI with your UPI QR shown on screen, card (you enter the reference from your card machine), udhaar for customers you give credit, loyalty points and store credit. One bill can be split across several methods. Slaby does not connect to card machines or UPI soundboxes yet.
- Do walk-in customers have to give their phone number?
- No. Every customer field is optional, so a walk-in bill needs no details at all. When a customer does give a number, their visits and spend build up in your customer list. Permission to send them offers is a separate tick that stays off unless they agree.
- Can I keep some pieces only for the shop?
- Yes. Switch Show online off for a product, or for one size or colour, and it disappears from your website, search and catalogue feeds while staying on sale at the counter. The website's checkout refuses it too.
- What happens if the internet goes down?
- New: with offline billing switched on, cash and UPI bills are saved on the billing device and sent automatically when the connection returns. If a bill can't go through, for example because the last piece sold online in the meantime, it waits under Needs attention for you to sort out. Nothing is dropped.
- Which plan do I need for counter billing?
- Counter billing and shop stock come with every paid plan. Lite is ₹299 a month for up to 20 products and one login; Starter is ₹799 a month for 200 products and two logins; Growth and Pro add more. Choose by how many products you stock and whether a cashier needs their own login.
- Can I send offers to all my customers on WhatsApp?
- Not as a broadcast yet. Today you can filter customers into segments, export the list, and open a WhatsApp chat with any customer who agreed to hear from you, one at a time. Bulk WhatsApp campaigns are not available.
