In short
With offline billing switched on, Slaby keeps billing when your shop's internet drops. Cash and UPI bills are saved on the billing device with a provisional number and a printable provisional bill. When the connection is back, they sync in order, each exactly once. Any bill the server can't accept waits for your review.
How does billing without internet work?
Counter billing keeps a copy of your item list on the device, so search and scanning keep working offline. When you press Pay without a connection, the bill is saved on the device instead of being sent.
The customer gets a provisional bill with a temporary number. When the internet returns, the saved bills are sent one by one, in the order they were made, and each gets its final bill number.
How do I switch on offline billing?
Turn on Keep billing when the internet drops in counter billing settings. It is off until you switch it on. Then open counter billing once on each billing device while you are online, so the device keeps a copy of the billing screen.
Use a normal browser window: a private window can't keep bills on the device, and Slaby tells you if that's the case.
What works offline, and what needs the internet?
Offline bills are for the simple, everyday sale. Anything that needs a live check waits for the connection.
- Works offline: search and scan, quantities, cash with change, and UPI (check the payment on your phone before you hand over the goods).
- Needs the internet: card payments, udhaar, coupons, reward points and store credit.
- Totals on an offline bill are an estimate; tax and offers are worked out when it syncs.
What if a piece sold online while I was offline?
If the server can't accept a saved bill, for example because the last piece sold on your website meanwhile, the bill moves to Needs attention. The customer has already paid, so nothing is thrown away.
From there you retry it, edit it and send it again, or close it with a note. A bill is never billed twice, even if it is retried.
What do shops ask about offline billing?
Will a bill ever be billed twice after the internet comes back?
No. Each saved bill carries its own key, and the server accepts each key once. Retrying a bill, or syncing from a slow connection, never creates a second bill.
How long can I bill offline?
As long as the device has storage and the browser keeps the page's data. Bills stay on the device until they sync or you close them yourself; nothing is deleted on its own.
Does the stock update while I am offline?
The stock is taken when each bill syncs. That is why a bill for a piece that sold online meanwhile goes to Needs attention instead of overselling.
Can two counters bill offline at the same time?
Yes. Each device keeps its own saved bills and sends them when it is back online. On one device, only one browser tab syncs at a time, so bills are not sent twice from two tabs.
Which plans include offline billing?
Offline billing is part of counter billing, which comes with every paid plan, from Lite at ₹299 a month. It is off until the store switches it on.
