Run offers: coupon codes and automatic schemes
Coupons are codes a buyer types, like SAVE10. Promotions apply by themselves: buy 2 get 1 free, a bundle discount, or 10% off above ₹2,000. Set dates, limits and who gets the offer.
Coupons or promotions?
Both pages need the "Manage settings" permission.
- Coupons (Settings → Coupons): a code the buyer types at checkout, like DIWALI15. Good for offers you share on WhatsApp or Instagram. Your counter can apply a code on a bill too.
- Promotions (Sales → Promotions): schemes that apply by themselves when the cart qualifies. No code to type. They work at checkout and on counter bills.
- Placed orders keep the discount they were given. Changing or deleting an offer later never changes an old order.
Create a coupon code in 5 steps
- 1
Click New coupon
Settings → Coupons
A form opens.

- 3
Choose the discount

- 5
Keep Active on and click Save coupon
Share the code. The list shows how many times it has been used under Redemptions.
Coupon fields

- Discount type

- The coupon works only when the cart is at least this much. With "Limit to products", it counts only those products.e.g. ₹1,500
- Limit to products (optional)
- Leave empty to apply to the whole cart. With products picked, the discount is worked out only on those items.e.g. Only the new kurta range

- Scheduled: the start date is still ahead.
- Expired: the expiry date has passed.
- Inactive: you switched Active off.
- Use the filter chips above the list to see one status at a time.
- Delete stops the code working at once. Placed orders keep their discount.
Create a promotion
- 1
Click New promotion
Sales → Promotions
Give it a Name you will recognise, like "Monsoon scheme".
- 2
Pick the Scheme type
Buy X get Y free, Bundle discount or Spend offer. The fields change to match.
- 3
Fill in the deal
For example Buy quantity 2 and Free quantity 1, then pick the products it applies to.
- 4
Choose who gets it and when
Pick the Audience. Set Starts and Ends dates if the offer is for a fixed time.
- 5
Click Save promotion
With Active on, it applies by itself from the start date.
The three scheme types
- Buy X get Y free: on the products you pick. For every full group of (buy + free) pieces of one product, the free pieces cost nothing. Buy 2 get 1 free: 3 pieces → 1 free, 6 pieces → 2 free, 5 pieces → 1 free.
- Bundle discount: a percentage off the products you pick once the cart has at least "Minimum total pieces" of them, mixed in any way. Example: 10% off when the cart has 12 or more pieces from the set.
- Spend offer: a percentage off the whole cart once it reaches "Minimum spend". "Max discount (optional)" caps the saving. Example: 10% off above ₹2,000, at most ₹500.
Promotion fields
- Audience
- Everyone, Retail buyers only or Wholesale buyers only.e.g. Wholesale buyers only
- Priority
- 0 to 1000. Higher numbers are tried first when more than one promotion fits the same cart.e.g. 10
- Stacks with other schemes
- On: lower-priority schemes can apply too. Off: when this one applies, lower-priority schemes are skipped.e.g. Off for a big festival offer
- Hero promotion
- A hero scheme runs alone. If any hero applies, only the best hero is used and every other scheme is skipped.e.g. On for your one headline Diwali offer
- Max discount (optional)
- Spend offer only: the most it can take off one order.e.g. ₹500
- Minimum total pieces
- Bundle discount only: how many pieces from the set the cart needs.e.g. 12
- Minimum spend
- Spend offer only: the cart total needed.e.g. ₹2,000
When more than one promotion fits
Only active promotions inside their dates and for the buyer's audience count. If a hero promotion gives a discount, only the best hero applies. Otherwise promotions apply from the highest Priority down; one with "Stacks with other schemes" off stops the rest after it applies.
The total discount can never be more than the cart itself. A promotion that gives nothing on this cart is simply skipped.
Test an offer before you announce it Add the products to a cart on your own store (or a counter bill) and check the discount before you share the offer. A wrong Audience or a Starts date in the future is the usual reason an offer doesn't show.

Common questions
- My coupon says it doesn't work. Why?
- Check its status: Scheduled (start date ahead), Expired, or Inactive. Then check "Minimum order", the product limit, and whether Max redemptions or the per-buyer limit is used up.
- Can I change a coupon's code?
- No. The code is fixed once saved, because buyers may already have it. Make a new coupon with the new code and switch the old one off.
- How do I give a coupon only once per customer?
- Set "Per-buyer limit (optional)" to 1.
- How do I run "buy 2 get 1 free"?
- In Promotions, pick "Buy X get Y free", type Buy quantity 2 and Free quantity 1, pick the products and save.
- Do promotions work at my counter?
- Yes. Active promotions apply to counter bills as well as online checkout. Coupon codes can be applied on a counter bill too.
- Two promotions fit the same cart. Which wins?
- A hero promotion wins alone. Otherwise they apply from the highest Priority down, and one with "Stacks with other schemes" off stops the rest.
- Can I give an offer only to my wholesale buyers?
- Yes. Set the promotion's Audience to "Wholesale buyers only".
- I deleted an offer. What happens to old orders?
- Nothing. Placed orders keep the discount they were given. The offer just stops applying to new orders.
- How do I schedule a sale for Diwali week?
- Set Starts and Ends (or Expires for a coupon) to the sale dates and keep Active on. It shows as Scheduled until the start date.
