Protect your own admin login
Turn on two-factor sign-in with an authenticator app so a stolen password alone can't open your admin, and set your counter PIN for a shared billing counter.
What this page is for
This page protects your own account only. Every team member sets up their own; nobody can do it for someone else.
Two-factor means that after your password, sign-in also asks for a 6-digit code from an app on your phone. Someone who learns your password still can't get in without your phone.
If counter billing is on and you are allowed to bill at the counter, this page also has your Counter PIN, for taking over a shared billing counter. Shared counter is off for a new store; the owner turns it on in Settings → Counter billing.
Turn on two-factor in 4 steps
- 1
Install an authenticator app
Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy or 1Password all work. They are free on Android and iPhone.
- 2
Start setup
Sign-in security → Set up two-factor
A QR code appears. Nothing is switched on yet.
- 3
Scan the QR with the app
Authenticator app → Add account → Scan QR
The app now shows a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Can't scan? Type the key shown under Can't scan? Enter this key manually into the app instead.
- 4
Type the code and enable
Code from the app → Verify & enable
Type the current 6-digit code and tap Verify & enable. The card says Two-factor authentication is on. From now on, sign-in asks for a code after your password. Sign in with Google stops working for you: sign in with your email, password and the code.
Keep the app on a phone you won't lose. A new phone needs the account moved to it first.
Your counter PIN
A counter PIN is a short number you type to take over a shared billing counter that an owner or manager has opened. It never works to sign in.
Type a New PIN, type it again, add Your password (asked only if your account has one), and tap Save PIN. Use 4 to 6 digits (your store may ask for more than 4). Not all the same digit, and not a run like 1234.
If the owner resets your PIN from Team, this card says Your counter PIN was reset. Set a new one the same way.
What the fields on this page mean
- Two-factor authentication
- A second check after your password: a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone.e.g. Password + 482 913 from Google Authenticator.
- Enter this key manually
- The same secret as the QR code, as text. Type it into the app when you can't scan, for example on the same phone.e.g. Authenticator → Enter a setup key → paste the key.
- Code from the app
- The 6-digit code the app shows right now. It changes every 30 seconds, so type a fresh one.e.g. 123456
- Current code
- Shown when two-factor is on. Type a current code from the app to turn two-factor off.e.g. Moving to a new phone: turn off, then set up again on the new phone.
- Counter PIN
- Your short number for a shared billing counter. It works only on a counter an owner or manager has opened, never to sign in.e.g. 5 digits like 40719.
- Your password
- Your sign-in password, asked once to prove it's you before a PIN is saved. Not asked if your account has no password.e.g. The same password you use on the login page.
Don't lose the app Without the app you can't finish signing in. Turn on your authenticator app's backup, or move its accounts before you change phones. If you lose it anyway, write to Slaby support with your store name and login email.
