Connect Google Analytics (GA4) to your store
See who visits your storefront, from where and on which pages, in your own Google Analytics account. You paste one Measurement ID into Slaby — no code.
About 10 minutes. Data appears in Realtime within minutes, in standard reports within a day.
Before you start
- A Google account.
- A Google Analytics 4 property with a Web data stream for your store address (the steps below create one).
- Owner or manage-settings access to your Slaby admin.
Step by step
- 1
Create a GA4 property and a web stream
In Google Analytics
Open Google Analytics and click Admin (the gear icon). Create an account if you have none, then Create → Property, choose India and your currency, and finish the business questions.
When asked to choose a platform, pick Web. Enter your store address (yourstore.slaby.in, or your own domain if you connected one) and a stream name, then click Create stream.

Copy the Measurement ID
In Google Analytics
Go to Admin → Data collection and modification → Data streams → Web, and click your stream. The Measurement ID is in the first row of Stream details and looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX.
Ignore the 'install manually' code Google shows you — Slaby adds the tag for you.
Google: find your Measurement ID - 3
Paste it into Slaby
In your Slaby admin
Go to Settings → Marketing & SEO. In the ad and analytics section, paste the ID into GA4 measurement id and click Save.
Slaby now adds the Google tag to every page of your storefront (retail and wholesale) — never to your admin.
- Format accepted: G- followed by letters and numbers, for example G-AB12CD34EF.
- 4
Check that visits are arriving
In Google Analytics
Open your storefront in another tab (not the admin) and click around a few pages. In Google Analytics open Reports → Realtime; your visit should appear within a minute or two.
Google: confirm you're collecting data
What to copy where
- From Google Analytics
Measurement ID — G-XXXXXXXXXX- Into Slaby
- Settings → Marketing & SEO → GA4 measurement id
Today the tag records page views (and the visit data Google collects automatically, like location and device). Sales, orders and revenue are reported in your Slaby admin's Analytics, not sent to Google Analytics.
Test it
- 1.Visit your storefront and watch Reports → Realtime in Google Analytics.
- 2.Or use Google Tag Assistant (tagassistant.google.com): enter your store address and click Connect — it should list your G- tag.
- 3.If you just turned on an ad blocker-free browser and still see nothing after 30 minutes, see troubleshooting below.
If something goes wrong
Slaby refuses the ID when I save.
Why it happens: The value is not in the G-XXXXXXX format — often a property ID (a plain number) or a UA- ID from the old Universal Analytics.
How to fix it: Copy the Measurement ID from the Web data stream (it starts with G-). UA- IDs no longer collect data.
Realtime shows nothing.
Why it happens: An ad blocker or privacy browser is blocking Google, you visited the admin instead of the storefront, or the ID belongs to a different property.
How to fix it: Test in a normal browser window with no ad blocker, on a storefront page. Compare the ID in Slaby with the one in the stream you are looking at.
Traffic from my own domain and from yourstore.slaby.in shows separately.
Why it happens: Both addresses work, so both send data.
How to fix it: That is expected. Filter by hostname in Google Analytics if you want to see one at a time.

Common questions
- Do I need Google Tag Manager?
- No. Paste the Measurement ID in Slaby and the Google tag is added for you. Tag Manager is only needed for advanced custom tracking (see the custom scripts guide).
- Can I use Google Analytics and Google Ads together?
- Yes. Fill in both fields on the Marketing & SEO page; they share one Google tag loader.
- Does Google Analytics see my wholesale prices?
- No. The tag only measures page visits. Prices, orders and buyer details are never sent to it by Slaby.
