Connect the Meta (Facebook & Instagram) Pixel
Let Meta count visits from your Facebook and Instagram ads and build audiences of people who visited your store. You paste one Pixel ID into Slaby — no code.
About 10 minutes.
Before you start
- A Meta Business portfolio (business.facebook.com) — free to create.
- Admin access to Events Manager in that portfolio.
- Owner or manage-settings access to your Slaby admin.
Step by step
- 1
Create a Pixel (dataset) in Events Manager
In Meta Events Manager
Open Meta Events Manager, click Connect data, choose Web, then Connect. Give the pixel a name (your store name is fine) and click Create pixel.
If Meta asks for your website and offers partner integrations or code installation, you can skip that — Slaby installs the pixel for you.
Meta: set up and install the Meta Pixel - 2
Copy the Pixel ID
In Meta Events Manager
Select your pixel under Data sources. The Pixel ID (also called the Dataset ID) is the long number shown with it — digits only, usually 15–16 of them.
- 3
Paste it into Slaby
In your Slaby admin
Go to Settings → Marketing & SEO, paste the number into Meta Pixel id, and click Save.
Slaby now loads the pixel on every storefront page and sends Meta a PageView each time a page opens.
- Format accepted: digits only, no spaces, no letters (for example 1234567890123456).
- 4
Check it in Events Manager
In Meta Events Manager
Open your storefront in another tab and load a couple of pages. In Events Manager your pixel should show PageView events within a few minutes and its status should turn Active.
What to copy where
- From Meta Events Manager
Pixel ID / Dataset ID — e.g. 1234567890123456- Into Slaby
- Settings → Marketing & SEO → Meta Pixel id
Today Slaby sends the PageView event only. Add to cart and Purchase events are not sent yet, so set up ad audiences and optimisation around page visits for now.
Test it
- 1.Install Meta Pixel Helper (Meta's free Chrome extension) and open your storefront — it should show your Pixel ID with a PageView.
- 2.Or use Test events in Events Manager: enter your store address and browse; events appear live.
If something goes wrong
Slaby refuses the value when I save.
Why it happens: Something other than the bare number was pasted — the whole code snippet, or a value with spaces.
How to fix it: Paste only the digits of the Pixel ID.
Events Manager shows no activity.
Why it happens: Ad blockers block Meta, you tested on the admin instead of the storefront, or the ID belongs to another pixel.
How to fix it: Test on a storefront page in a normal browser window. Compare the ID in Slaby with the pixel you are looking at.
Meta warns that the domain is not verified.
Why it happens: Meta asks businesses to verify domains they advertise.
How to fix it: Domain verification in Meta Business settings needs a DNS TXT record (Business settings → Brand safety → Domains). Add it at your domain registrar — it does not affect Slaby's own records.

Common questions
- Is this the same as the Facebook Pixel?
- Yes. Meta renamed the Facebook Pixel; Events Manager may also call it a dataset. The ID is the same number.
- Does it work for Instagram ads?
- Yes. Instagram and Facebook ads both run through Meta Ads Manager and use the same pixel.
- Does Meta see my prices or my buyers' details?
- No. Slaby sends page views only — no prices, orders, phone numbers or emails.
