Verify your store in Google Search Console
Prove to Google that the store is yours so you can see which searches bring buyers, submit your sitemap, and fix indexing problems. Paste one verification code into Slaby.
About 10 minutes.
Before you start
- A Google account.
- Your store address — yourstore.slaby.in, or your own domain if connected.
- Owner or manage-settings access to your Slaby admin.
Step by step
- 1
Add a URL-prefix property
In Google Search Console
Open Search Console, click the property menu → Add property, and choose URL prefix (not Domain). Enter your full store address, for example https://yourstore.slaby.in or https://www.yourshop.in, and click Continue.
- Use URL prefix for a slaby.in address — Domain properties need DNS access to slaby.in, which only works for a domain you own.
- On your own domain you may choose Domain instead and verify with a DNS TXT record at your registrar; then you can skip the next two steps.
- 2
Choose 'HTML tag' and copy only the code
In Google Search Console
In the verification options pick HTML tag. Google shows a line like <meta name="google-site-verification" content="abc123…" />.
Copy ONLY the part inside content="…" — the code itself, without the quotes or the rest of the tag. Do not click Verify yet.
- 3
Paste the code into Slaby
In your Slaby admin
Go to Settings → Marketing & SEO, paste the code into Google Search Console verification token, and click Save. Slaby adds the meta tag to your storefront's pages.
- Format accepted: 20–100 letters, numbers, - or _ (no spaces, quotes or angle brackets).
- 4
Verify, then submit your sitemap
In Google Search Console
Back in Search Console click Verify. Keep the code saved in Slaby afterwards — Google re-checks it, and removing it removes your access.
Then open Sitemaps, enter sitemap.xml in the 'Add a new sitemap' box and click Submit. Slaby keeps the sitemap up to date as you add products.

If something goes wrong
Slaby refuses the code when I save.
Why it happens: The whole <meta …> tag or the quotes were pasted.
How to fix it: Paste only the code between the quotes after content=.
Search Console says the verification tag was not found.
Why it happens: The property address does not match where the code is served, or 'Let search engines find the store' is off and the page could not be fetched.
How to fix it: Make sure the property is exactly the address buyers use (https, with or without www as you visit it). Check the indexing switch on the Marketing & SEO page is on, then click Verify again.
Pages are 'Excluded by noindex'.
Why it happens: Let search engines find the store is switched off on the Marketing & SEO page.
How to fix it: Switch it on and save, then request indexing again from URL Inspection.

Common questions
- I connected my own domain later — do I verify again?
- Yes. Search Console treats each address as its own property. Add a property for the new domain; the same saved code verifies it, because the meta tag is served on every address of your store.
- Do I need Search Console to appear on Google?
- No — Google can find your store without it. Search Console tells you how you are doing and lets you fix problems faster.
