Send your bills to Tally without retyping
Type the Tally company and ledger names your accountant uses. The Tally file from Reports then books every bill, return and udhaar payment to those ledgers.
What this page is for
Tally needs every entry booked to a ledger with an exact name. This page holds those names, so the Tally file from Reports matches your accountant's books.
The defaults (Sales, Output CGST, Output SGST, Output IGST, Cash, Bank, Round Off, Sundry Debtors) are Tally's usual names. Change only what your accountant has named differently. Every row saves on its own. You need the Manage settings permission.
Set up and send to Tally in 4 steps
- 1
Ask your accountant for the ledger names
You need: company name, sales and sales-return ledgers, CGST / SGST / IGST ledgers, cash, bank, round off and the customer group.
- 2
Type them here, exactly
Tally export → Company, Sales and GST, Money and customers
Spelling, spaces and capitals must match Tally exactly. "Output CGST" and "Output Cgst" are different ledgers in Tally.
- 3
Download the files from Reports
Reports → Tally (XML)
Tap Reports at the top of this page and pick the dates. The first time, tap Download ledgers (first import). Then tap Download vouchers: every bill, return and udhaar payment in those dates.
- 4
Import them in Tally Prime
Tally Prime → Import
First time only: import the ledgers file with Import → Masters. Then import the vouchers file with Import → Transactions.
If Tally can't find a ledger, fix its name here (or create it in Tally) and download the vouchers again.

Names must match exactly Tally matches ledgers by exact name. One extra space or a different capital letter, and Tally can't match the entry to your ledger. Copy the names from Tally if you can.
