Put your store on your own domain
Serve your storefront on an address you own, like www.yourshop.in. Add the domain here, copy the DNS records into your domain company's panel, then tap Verify.
What this page is for
Your store always has a free address on Slaby. This page adds your own address on top, so buyers type www.yourshop.in instead.
You need the Manage settings permission. Domains can't be added or removed by a support person signed in to your store.
Connect your domain in 4 steps
- 1
Type the domain and pick the storefront
Custom domains → Domain, Storefront → Add domain
Type the address exactly as buyers will type it, like www.yourshop.in or shop.yourshop.in. Don't add https:// or a slash at the end.
Storefront decides which shop the domain opens: Retail (everyone) or Wholesale (your trade buyers). Tap Add domain.
- 2
Copy the records into your domain company's panel
The domain's card → the Type / Name / Value table
Open the DNS settings where you bought the domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, Cloudflare…). Add each row from the table: same Type, same Name, same Value. Use the Copy button next to each value.
If a record with the same Type and Name already exists, for example one pointing at Shopify, edit it instead of adding a second one.
- 3
Wait a little
DNS changes usually show within an hour. Sometimes they take longer. You don't need to delete and re-add the domain while you wait.
- 4
Tap Verify
The domain's card → Verify
When the TXT record is found, the chip turns Active and Slaby sets up the secure https certificate for you. The card then says Pointing to your store once visitors reach it.
Which records you add
The card shows the exact records for your domain. The kinds are:
- A record, Name @: sends the bare domain (yourshop.in) to your store. Shown only for a bare domain.
- CNAME record: sends a sub-address such as www or shop to your store.
- TXT record: proves you own the domain. Its value is a long code unique to your store.
- If you were given a longer vercel-dns value for the CNAME, that works too.
Pending, Active and Rejected
- Pending: added, but the TXT record isn't found yet. Add it and tap Verify.
- Active: ownership is proved. Check the line under it. Pointing to your store means buyers reach you.
- Active with a yellow warning: the domain still points somewhere else, for example your old Shopify site, or has no address record at all. Change the A or CNAME record shown, then tap Check again.
- Rejected: the last check didn't find the TXT record. Fix it at your domain company and tap Verify again.
What the fields on this page mean
- Domain
- The address you own, exactly as buyers type it. No https://, no path.e.g. www.yourshop.in, or shop.yourshop.in.
- Storefront
- Which shop this domain opens: Retail for everyone, or Wholesale for your trade buyers.e.g. www.yourshop.in → Retail, trade.yourshop.in → Wholesale.
- DNS records
- The Type / Name / Value table on a domain's card. TXT proves you own the domain; A and CNAME send visitors to your store.e.g. Type CNAME · Name www · Value cname.vercel-dns.com.
- Name
- What goes in the Name (or Host) box at your domain company. @ means the bare domain.e.g. @ for yourshop.in, www for www.yourshop.in.
- Check again
- Re-checks where an Active domain points and re-registers it, after you change its A or CNAME record.e.g. You moved the A record off Shopify → tap Check again.
- Remove
- Stops the domain serving your storefront. Your free Slaby address keeps working, and you can add the domain again later.e.g. Moving to a new domain: add the new one first, then remove the old one.
Moving from another platform? Keep your old site running until the card says Pointing to your store. Until you change the A or CNAME record, visitors still reach your old site.

Common questions
- Verify says it couldn't find the TXT record.
- DNS can take up to an hour. Check you added it at the company your domain's nameservers point to, with the Name exactly as shown and nothing extra. Then tap Verify again.
- It says Active, but my old site still opens.
- Active only proves ownership. Change the A record (for the bare domain) or CNAME (for www) to the value on the card, then tap Check again.
- Should I add yourshop.in or www.yourshop.in?
- Add the one you print and share. For a bare domain the card asks for an A record and a www CNAME, so both work.
- It says the domain is already in use.
- Another store on Slaby has added it. If it is yours, write to support with proof that you own the domain.
- Do I need to buy an SSL certificate?
- No. Once the domain is verified, the secure https certificate is set up for you at no extra cost.
- Can I use a different domain for my wholesale shop?
- Yes. Add a second domain, for example trade.yourshop.in, and set its Storefront to Wholesale.
- Will my free Slaby address stop working?
- No. Old links still work: once your domain is live, store pages on the Slaby link open your own domain. Your admin stays on the Slaby link.
- Why can't support add my domain for me?
- A domain decides where your buyers' traffic goes, so only your own team can add or remove one.
