Your store's name and timezone

What this page is for

Store identity holds two things you can change, the store name and the timezone, and shows two that are fixed, the store address and the currency.

You need the Manage settings permission. Every change is written to the Audit log.

Change your store name in 3 steps

   Type the new name

   Store identity → Store name

   Up to 120 characters. Use the name your customers know, like Sharma Garments.

   Check the timezone

   Timezone

   Shops in India use Asia/Kolkata. Pick another only if your shop is in another country.

   Save

   Save changes

   The button works once something has changed. The new name shows on your storefront, admin and new invoices straight away.

What the fields on this page mean

Store name

Your shop's name, shown across your storefront, admin and invoices. It can't be empty.e.g. Sharma Garments.

Timezone

The clock your store runs on. Order times and notification quiet hours follow it.e.g. Asia/Kolkata: an order at 9 pm in India shows 9 pm, not 3:30 pm.

Store address (slug)

The short name in your free Slaby web address. It is fixed, because changing it would break every link you have shared.e.g. sharma-garments in sharma-garments.slaby.in.

Currency

The currency all your prices and bills are in. It is set at signup and fixed, so stored amounts never change meaning.e.g. INR.

Want your own web address? The store address can't change, but you can put your store on a domain you own, like www.sharmagarments.in, in Settings → Custom domains.

Common questions

Can I change my store's web address?

Not the Slaby address (the slug), because shared links would break. Add your own domain in Custom domains instead.

Will renaming the store change my old invoices?

The new name shows wherever your store name appears from now on. Amounts and invoice numbers never change.

Is the store name the same as my GST legal name?

Not necessarily. The legal name for tax invoices is set in Tax profile → Legal name.

Why is the Save changes button grey?

Nothing has changed yet, or the name is empty. Change a field and it turns on.

My order times look wrong.

Check Timezone. For shops in India it should be Asia/Kolkata.

Can I sell in dollars?

The currency is set at signup and can't be changed. Write to Slaby support before you start if you need another currency.

Where do I change my logo?

In Settings → Branding. This page is only for the name and timezone.

It says that timezone isn't recognised.

Pick a timezone from the list. The list has the common ones, and Asia/Kolkata for India.
